Amaya García Arregui

 

 

 

Amaya García Arregui obtained a Degree in Human Sciences in the University Carlos III de Madrid and a Master Degree in Hispanic Studies by Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, in Paris. She is currently a “Fundación La Caixa” fellow and a PhD candidate in the Autonomous University of Barcelona (CEHIC, Centre for the History of Science). She is also a member of the research team in Historical Epistemology of the Institute of History of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), in Madrid. She is interested in the discursive approaches to the process of generation during the 20th century and her work focuses particularly on the medicalization of pregnancy and childbirth and the introduction of obstetrical psychoprophylaxis in post-war Spain.
